The
history of the italian charm bracelet
The story of Italian
charm bracelets started back in the 1960s when they were popular as watch
bracelets. The 1970s saw the first experiments with soldering motifs and
settings. The earliest models set with turquoise and onyx were a great
success, although at that time no one realised just how popular these
Italian bracelets would become.
In the 1980s, production
grew, and several jewellers and goldsmiths recognised the unique potential
of this type of jewellery – it was now possible for customers to
personalise their own jewellery. Today there are about 20 companies manufacturing
Italian charm bracelets, and the number is increasing. |

Original Firenze - the company
Established in 1847,
Original Firenze is a traditional Italian family-owned jewellery business.
The company designs exclusive jewellery using precious metals of the finest
quality and specialises in setting precious stones. As the producer of
original Italian charm bracelets, the Original Firenze name is a guarantee
of the superior quality of this type of jewellery.
Generations of experience
are put to good use in the factory as skilled jewellers create new links,
set precious stones and polish the finished jewellery. Stringent quality
control of every single link is the final step in the process before the
products are distributed to selected retailers the world over.
If you have an idea
for a new design, you are welcome to contact us and we will assess its
production potential. In this way, working closely with consumers can
be highly rewarding for all concerned.

Quality
of Firenze charm bracelets
The quality of Italian
charm bracelets varies greatly and can be difficult to assess. Some companies
set genuine pearls in precious metals while others glue plastic pearls
on to the steel sections as an alternative to costly stone setting that
requires highly skilled craftsmanship. There is also considerable difference
between the designs, and soldering technique, finish and polish in particular
are all important indicators of quality.
Therefore we always
advise checking the manufacturer’s stamp before buying links to
avoid disappointment.
